I heart old barns. They remind me of my childhood and the old farms of rural Ohio that I’d see from the inside of the car as my family drove the country roads to our next suburban destination. Driving by, I was always in awe of their simple beauty, but never did we stop and have a good look at them.

This time was different. I had driven past this barn and admired its perfectly weathered wood and peeling paint for close to five years. Then I had the light blub moment—you know when everything suddenly becomes clear. The barn I had been driving past for years would meet one of my new wedding clients. YEEEEHAW!

This couple was looking for a location for their engagement session. Their only request was to incorporate skiing and the rest was up to me. After we decided on a ski location (these shots will be in a following post), I immediately thought of the barn. When I described it, the couple seemed somewhat agreeable. Then we pulled up. They looked around and noticed the same beauty and potential I saw—a perfectly aged barn. If only those walls could talk.
