If you have a website, then you probably have heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If you don’t have or manage a website, then I am probably speaking a foreign language to you. No worries. If you fall into the second category, I advise you to click around and instead check out all the fun wedding and portrait photography on my website and check back when you have more interest in SEO.

I am not going to tell you the ins and outs of SEO, because, myself, I am still learning. Instead, here’s a short review of an Intro to SEO class I took at Boulder Digital Arts (BDA) this week. I found it helpful for my business. Even if you plan to hire an SEO consultant, educating yourself on the topic can help make the process that much smoother.

Dave Taylor teaches you some basic tricks, that can not only help your business rise to the top of Google, but can also assist you in finding an SEO consultant who fits your needs. Dave does not recommend anyone, but instead he teaches you the tools to help you help yourself. My favorite kind of learning—and the new space BDA moved into is great; very conducive for learning. Complete with comfortable desks (my feet actually touched the ground and were not swinging in the wind like a 3rd grader), complementary snacks (loved the LARABARs!) and plenty of large monitors, so you can clearly see the material being presented. I am looking forward to Dave’s Advanced SEO class in late May.
