I about jumped out my skin with excitement when Ali of Alison Vagnini Photography asked me to help photograph this wedding at the AA Barn in Grand Lake, CO. I believe I responded with something like, “Ummm, heck yeh!”
When I walked up to the barn and caught a glimpse of the setting and wedding details, I knew it was going to be a great day. Any bride who applies her make up out in the sweet Colorado sunshine, while holding a hand mirror, sitting on the stoop of a barn, as her chocolate lab runs circles around her is a gal after my own bohemian heart.
And then I met Sarah for the first time…she greeted with a gigantic smile as she was combing out her perfectly curled hair with her fingers, to make it look more natural and give it the “Sarah touch.” Whatever she did it worked—she looked gorgeous!
One of the guests told me Sarah is a painter, which made total sense. Her wedding colors complimented each other as if they were from the palette of the latest Anthropologie catalog, and her awesome DIY touches tied everything together.
Alex kicked off his wedding day with a mountain bike ride with the boys, before meeting his lady for their first look at the barn. They married under a handmade arch in the field next to the barn, with a stream and a view of the mountains behind them. As they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, they were showered with paper airplanes folded from their programs.
Guests played horseshoes, danced to bluegrass music and toasted with whiskey, as the night moved in under the summer sky. It was a dreamy wedding at AA Barn, one I was so happy to be a part. Thanks so much to Alex and Sarah for having along for the ride and a big thanks to Ali for the opportunity!
