You might recognize this family from a windy family portrait session this spring. No issue with wind this time, instead we battled the Boulder summer heat. Never a dull moment when you photograph people on location. You just don’t know what you will get, which is part of what I love about my photography.
Another part that I love is learning people’s stories. This family has a unique story. Mom and Grandma moved to Boulder from Russia and Grandma helps out by being a nanny to Bella. Each time I see them, I learn a little more about Russian culture, which the cultural geek side of me thinks is super cool! At the end of our family portrait session Grandma handed me two packed bags of homemade Russian desserts. Her birthday was the previous day and she had leftovers. I was overtaken by her generosity and thoughtfulness—not to mention the blinchiki (the Russian equivalent of a blintz) were delicious. Little moments like that and images like this make me love being a photographer.
