This couple chose to be married at the idyllic Maroon Bells Amphitheater in Aspen, CO. What a stunning location for a wedding! If you are looking for a unique destination wedding location, I highly recommend it.
I have photographed some small weddings in my time and these intimate affairs are usually some of my favorite weddings of the season. Partially because I had a small wedding and partially because I love it when I am able to spend time to really get to know the couple and all of their guests by their first name.
Location aside, from the moment I met these two at a bar in Denver, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. They just had a love for each other that was contagious. The way he looked at her and the way she talked about him. It was adorable. I know, it sounds super cheesy, but it is true. Immediately I could feel their warmth, and I knew I wanted to not only be their wedding photographer, but I knew in the end we’d be friends.
Then the wedding came and it was even more dreamy than I could have ever imagined. The party of 11 welcomed me into their celebration as if I had been part of the family for years, which made documenting the wedding and telling their story a complete joy. A few days after I delivered their wedding photos, I received an email from the bride saying:
Just brilliant Casie – thank you so much. We watched the video and went through these pics just now. We laughed, we cried, we kissed. Just brilliant. Thank you so, so, so much from the depths of our souls for capturing the moments just like we’d hoped!
When I receive feedback like that, I am reminded why I choose to spend a handful of weekends a year away from my family photographing weddings. It fills me up to meet new people and get to know them well enough that in the end, I have new friends who feel like family.
