Pet Photography: Dog Portraits Boulder, Colorado – Puppy Love

It has been a few weeks since I posted some pet photography. Which makes this the perfect day to share this little female pup. She stole my heart the minute I laid eyes on her and her spazzy puppy self. Meet Esther, a three and a half month old merle Australian Shepherd (and perhaps a mix of a couple other breeds) who was rescued at 10 weeks old. Don’t you just want one for yourself? I do! I do! She is as sweet as she looks. Complete with soft puppy fur, two different color eyes, boundless curiosity and endless energy that will entertain you for hours.

Queen Esther - a three and half month old Australian Shepherd who rules her Denver home.

Esther and Kona (my dog) met for the first time on Sunday and I hope for many more playdates for them in the future.

Excited about the opportunity to practice my pet photography, I brought my camera, just in case. Who was I kidding? I envisioned some pet portraits of the two of them together, smiling nicely at the camera. I must have been dreaming. I quickly snapped out of my fantasy and realized that Esther was not going to stop trying to clinch onto Kona’s cheeks long enough for me to get a good shot of their adorable faces. Instead this is how they spent the afternoon…

The older male tries to escape as she lunges after him with full speed and all paws off the ground ready to chomp on his joules.

…Kona running away, like a typical young boy, as a sweet and innocent younger girl throws herself at him.

I can’t decide which is more challenging, pet photography or children photography. In both cases you end up chasing a small living being around making ridiculous noises and acting crazy with hopes of grabbing their attention and a smile at the same time. This is one of the fun parts of my job!
