Portraits: Dog Portraits

We had a visitor at our house last week which added some excitement and plenty of entertainment to our world. Harvey Longback spent a few days with us and played with Kona from morning to night. Like Kona, Harvey is also a jewel from the pound. We think he is mix of a Basset Hound and a Lab, but no one knows for sure. He measures four feet (that is only 14 inches shorter than I) from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, hence the proper name of Harvey Longback. He keeps Kona in line as only a big brother can, and Kona naturally follows his lead.

Having Harvey around caused me to ask the question. “Are two dogs better than one?” Twice the entertainment for Martin and I. Twice the unconditional love the moment you walk in the door. Twice the wet noses and big eyes staring at you the second you open your eyes in the morning. Twice the dog hair. Twice the poop picking up. But overall twice the fun. Now I just need to convince Martin we need a permanent second dog. Don’t you agree?

Meet Harvey Longback. Yes, he is as sweet and mischievous as he looks.

Can you tell who was the ruler of the house during Harvey's visit?

This is Flea, Harvey's favorite toy. The moment Kona saw it enter the house, he decided it was his favorite toy too. I love the serious eye contact they have in this shot.
