Meet Rachel. This fall she will kick off her senior year in high school. Rachel is not your average high school senior. She is a motivated and disciplined swimmer. If you don’t know any swimmers, let me inform you, they keep crazy hours. They wake before sunrise and sometimes call it a day before the sun sets. I only know this because I was a swimmer as a kid. Once the workouts started beginning at six am, I benched myself!
Knowing Rachel was a swimmer I had some ideas of different locations for her shoot, but I wasn’t sure she’d be into them. Then her mom said to me, “You know, Rachel is all about water.” Those words confirmed my plan: locations with water.
Rachel and I chatted the day before the shoot and asked her to bring her swim goggles. I could tell she was a little skeptical. I am sure she was thinking something similar to, “Am I really going to get my senior pictures taken in my swim goggles? I am gonna look like a dork!”
I am happy to say, as well as being a talented swimmer, Rachel also happens to be a natural in front of the camera. See for yourself.
And Rachel, thanks for making my job easy. As far as the goggle shots, they turned out just as I imagined—playful and fun. Thanks for giving it a try.
